Continue on to Swoyambhunath Stupa

One of the most popular and instantly recognizable symbols of Nepal is the Stupa of Swoyambhunath. Many tourists, because of the large tribes of monkeys that guard the hill, also refer to it as the “Monkey Temple”. Furthermore, 365 stone steps lead straight to one of the most sacred Buddhist sites, from where the painted eyes of Swoyambhunath seem to peer down into your soul. At the base of the stupa is a continuous series of prayer wheels, which the pilgrims spin as they circumambulate the stupa.

Afternoon, visit Patan Durbar Square

Patan is one of the sister cities of Kathmandu. Patan has a long Buddhist influence, and the Stupas mark the four corners of the city. An acclaimed Buddhist emperor around 250 BC is the creator of this magnificent Stupas.
