Itinerary:

Day 01: Kathmandu to Syabru Bensi

Morning, drive to Trishuli Bazaar which is 72 Km from Kathmandu and take 4 hours drive. The road is good but very winding with fantastic mountain views. Ranipauwa is the only large village along the rout. Further, from Trisuli, the 50 Km road leading to Dhunche is steep, winding, and rather hairy, passing through Betrawati then Thare. Dhunche is a pretty village at 1950m and it is the entrance to Langtang National Park. The trekking permit has to be shown here to enter the area. The road descends from Dhunche at first, then in series of steep loops to the bridge across the Bhote Koshi.

Finally, you reach Syabru Bensi which has a string of shops and lodges.

Day 02: Syabru Bensi to Lama Hotel

Today the trek pass through the suspension bridge of Bhote Koshi River. Turn right at the eastern end of the bridge and walk into a small settlement of Old Syabru.

The trek becomes a pleasant walk through trees where langur monkeys frolic. Further, passing a side stream and small waterfall before reaching stream at Doman, 1680m. Over the rest of the day walking and the following morning, you will pass a few settlements. Further, it’s then a long climb in the forest. You will then meet another trail junction with a sign pointing to Syabru (Thulo Syabru). Beyond the trail junction the trail climbs gently to Bamboo Lodge. Beyond Bamboo Lodge the trail crosses the Dangdung Khola, then climbs to steel suspension bridge over Langtang Khola at 2000m.

On the northern bank of Langtang Khola the route climbs alongside a series of waterfalls. These waterfalls are formed by a jumble of house-sized boulders. Further, climb steeply to a landslide and then ascend further to Changtang, popularly known as Lama Hotel, at 2470m.

Day 03: Lama Hotel to Langtang

Today the trail continues to follow the Langtang Khola, climbing steeply, at times very steeply, to Ghora Tabela at 2970m. From here there is a fine view of Langtang Lirung. Further, from Ghora Tabela the trail climbs more gradually to Langtang at 3430m.

The Langtang National Park headquarter is here. Langtang and the villages around are in Tibetan style with stone walls around the fields and herds of yaks.

Day 04: Langtang To Kyanjin Gompa

It only takes the morning (passing through a small village) to climb to Kyangin Gompa at 3870m. There is a monastery, lodges and a cheese factory. Further, there are a number of interesting walks from the Gompa.

Day 05- 09: Langtang Valley & Return to Syabru Bensi

Further, from Kyanjin Gompa you can climb to a viewpoint at 4300m. The climb is on a glacial moraine to the north for a superb view of Langtang Lirung.

You can make a day walk to Yala or further up the valley for a spectacular view. You can return to Syabru Bensi taking the same route.
